In the Downtown West District, this 1095 square foot unit on the seventh floor of The Lofts at 2020 Washington is arguably the best unit in the building. It faces south and just look at the view. The condo is very “lofty” with high ceilings, large industrial windows, exposed brick walls and concrete columns and an old elevator shaft that works as a large closet or whatever you might imagine it to be. It could be a guest bedroom with a Murphy bed.
The condo itself is very FLEX. The public area is an open floor plan. The current owner has it set up in a library/southern comfort style with walls lined with bookshelves and art from around the world and overstuffed leather chairs for relaxing. I wanted to plunk myself down and start reading with the southern sunlight warming my face. Be sure to notice the top down/bottom up shades that give you control over where and when you want the sunlight.
He also has a media room in the public space and plenty of room to eat in the kitchen. The hallway is an ideal gallery for a themed display of artwork.
The kitchen has a sleek look with birch cabinets and stainless steel counter tops. There is a laundry room with stack washer/dryer. The bedroom is private with walls up to the ceiling. It has a southern facing window also with top down-bottom up shades and blackout curtains. The room is 14×14 with a large walk-in closet that is separated with track doors. This closet is a multi purpose room as it is actually large enough for a queen size bed.
The bathroom has been updated and now has walk-in shower with a hand-held and rain shower head. The new floating vanity and sink haveNotice the exposed concrete column with hooks to hang towels and robes.
The Lofts at 2020 Washington have 103 units. It is a secure building. The community is friendly. The roof top deck is an amenity that is accessible to all owners. Downtown West
Renovation of the Sporting News Building into 103 condos began in 2003. Originally named The Sporting News Lofts, they are now called The Lofts at 2020 Washington.
The building location is the new “In” part of the downtown St Louis loft district. (Once a garment district 2nd only to New York.) It is the Downtown West loft district – far enough to be out of the late night noise. However it is very walkable to restaurants and downtown St Louis attractions and clubs. The Arch, Ball Park Village, restaurants and bookstores, movie theater, and a grocery store are also walkable with comfortable shoes.
Only a few blocks to the newly transformed Union Station which is definitely a great place for everyone in the family. In addition to a miniature golf course, a rope link and a carousel there is an aquarium and many places to eat.
Then, of course, there is the new Centenne Soccer Stadium with a capacity of 22,500. Centene Stadium will host approximately 17-20 regular season games plus three exhibition games each year. The open-air venue may also be used for high school and college sporting events, tournaments, soccer camps, corporate gatherings, food festivals, parties and other social events. It’s almost complete, Hurrah! Here’s a view from the condo.
In June of 2016, St Louis was chosen as the site of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. The 99 acre site is located just north of 2020 Washington. The NGA has approximately 14,500 employees and approximately one-third of them will be in St Louis Mo. This facility is about 3 blocks north of 2020 Washington.
