When I hear “Webster Groves MO”, I think wholesome family living and pride of community. In 2011 Webster Groves was listed by CNN as number 61 of the 100 best cities in which to live. The residents of Webster Groves think it should be on the list every year.
While the neighbors to the north of Webster have a housing stock consisting mainly of brick and mortar on streets in straight lines, Webster Groves is filled with porches and frame houses with welcome signs on the front door and many winding streets. It really is like eating your favorite comfort food to take a drive through Webster Groves.
Webster Groves MO is located southwest of downtown St Louis and is bordered by Brentwood on the north, Shrewsbury on the east, Affton on the south and Glendale on the west. It is approximately 10 miles from downtown. It is an easy commute using Highway 44. There is also a metrolink station that is popular with Webster residents, especially employees of BJC.
There are two shopping/dining areas in Webster Groves MO. The Old Orchard Business District is on Big Bend as it makes the big bend going west. The Webster Groves Farmer’s Market takes place here weekly on Thursdays from 3 to 7 from the beginning of May through the end of October. The dining is casual here and the retail stores are special, like Summit Jewelers with its unique custom designed jewelry.
Old Webster is another friendly shopping spot and is located just west of the Old Orchard Business District. It includes several restaurants and pubs, a nursery, a large plumbing supply store. a grocery store and an eclectic assortment of retail stores. Old Webster hosts the Webster Jazz & Blues Festival every September and it is on our calendar every year. From noon til 11 p.m., a place for good music, good people and plenty of food and drink.
According to www.walkscore.com, the walk score for Webster Groves MO is 50. I’m quite sure the residents would argue this point but that’s because most of them are walkers. For them walking is a way to stay connected to their neighbors and community. It gives then an opportunity to relate with one another without trying to prove anything to anybody. It is just one of the features of Webster that makes their heart feel at home. And, Webster residents will agree that a full heart has as much to do with the community as it has to do with the house. Indeed, Webster Groves MO is a place where happiness and satisfaction rank high above ostentation.
