Skinker DeBaliviere Neighborhood
There is a lot of opportunity for neighborliness in Skinker-DeBaliviere. The neighborhood has a great diversity in demographics. There are an abundance of Washington University students and professors. There are some homes in the area that are owned by the third generation of Skinkerites.

Forest Park is definitely within walking distance, as are the Delmar Loop and Washington University. There are many restaurants in the area. Joe’s Cafe is a neighborhood gathering spot. It is a live music venue with a wild and crazy decor (you must go to the garden). Joe’s is open on Thursday evenings. United Provisions, which just opened on Delmar, is a grocery store that is within walking distance. The Delmar Loop is nearby and offers miscelaneous retail shops, dining and a grocery store.
The www.walkscore.com rating is 61 but I think that is low. 5677 Waterman Boulevard is a four minute walk from the MLB MetroLink Blue Line and the MLR MetroLink Red Line at the FOREST PARK METROLINK STATION stop.
The neighborhood association offices at 6008 Kingsbury Avenue. There are events throughout the year in Skinker-DeBaliviere which are usually held at the Gregory Freeman Park at the corner of DesPeres and Kingsbury.
Schools
The St Louis Public Elementary School for this neighborhood is Hamilton Elementary School located at 5819 Westminster Place. Langston Middle School is the SLPS for grades 6-8 and is located at 5511 Wabada Avenue. Sumner High School is the SLPS high school which is located at 4268 W Cottage Ave.
The Collegiate School of Medicine and Bioscience is located at 450 Des Peres in the Skinker DeBaliviere Neighborhood. It is a SLPS magnet school for 9-1lth graders. St Louis Charter Schools (click here for a complete list of charter schools in StL) are also available for city students.
Private schools in the neighborhood include the St Roch Catholic Elementary School which is for kindergarden through 8th grade. Crossroads College Preparatory school for grades 7 through 12 is located at 500 DeBaliviere. New City School offers academics for pre-school through 6th grade.
