3+ bedrooms, 2 full baths, 1 half bath, $450000
This charming home in the historic Skinker DeBaliviere neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri, harkens back to a bygone era, having been constructed in 1910, shortly after the 1904 World’s Fair. Meticulously refurbished, it combines the grace of its original design with modern amenities.
As you approach the home, you are greeted by an exterior that showcases architectural elements that are typical of the era in which it was built: a large front porch with intricate carvings on the pillars that support the porch. So inviting for enjoying early morning coffee and a friendly greeting to the neighbors as they take their morning walk.
Once inside, the 10 x 8 front entry exudes a sense of grandeur, charm, and timeless elegance which was typical of the early 1900’s. The foyer is flanked by a new steel door, a transom window and a sidelight.
The first floor has a formal living room with the original ornate oak fireplace mantle and leas to a formal dining room. Recently, new hardwood floors were installed on the first floor. The rooms are generously sized and give a feeling of an open floor plan yet maintain the traditional formality associated with separate living and dining spaces.
The newly designed kitchen has ample counter space (solid surface). custom cabinets and new stainless appliances.
Off the kitchen, on the southern side of the house, is a large deck, perfect for large-scale gatherings.
The second floor boasts three bedrooms, with the primary bedroom offering an en-suite bathroom that’s the epitome of sophistication, complete with a separate tub, a spacious shower, and double sinks. The second bedroom features an original iron fireplace. The second floor is fully carpeted. The hall bathroom features hook-ups for a stackable washer and dryer. There is also a space in the basement for a full size washer and dryer.
The third floor, a versatile space, has roughed-in plumbing for another bathroom, offering the potential to be separated into a bedroom and family room.
Notably, the house now boasts a cutting-edge zoned heating and cooling system, with one zone serving the basement and first floor which is a high efficiency gas furnace, while the other caters to the second and third floors and is electric. These thoughtful upgrades ensure comfort and efficiency throughout the year.
In addition to the new HVAC system, the house has undergone a complete electrical and plumbing overhaul. A state-of-the-art electrical box and fresh wiring have been installed eliminating worries of the dreaded knob and tube. The plumbing has been fully replaced, even extending to roughed-in plumbing on the third floor, ready for a potential full bathroom.
