It has long been a popular community in University City. It is in the Flynn Park Elementary School and it is also in Lourdes Parish which is a popular Catholic elementary school (not walkable but close).
This block of Waterman dead ends into the Flynn Park Elementary School so on school days it is a pleasure to watch the little tykes walking to school. On the last day of school when my son was attending Flynn Park Elementary, we would meet at our friend’s home in this neighborhood and would all walk to The Delmar Loop to celebrate the last day of school. By the kiddos choice, we would end up at Blueberry Hill where the youngsters could feel somewhat naughty while reading the grafiti in the bathrooms. I have very pleasant memories of this neighborhood.
It is a three minute walk to the northwest corner of the Washington University campus and the Blue Line Metrolink. Additionally, it is about seven minutes to get to The Delmar Loop for eclectic dining, shopping and entertainment. Clayton and Forest Park are healthier walks but many people from this neighborhood walk to their office in Clayton and bicycle to Forest Park for stress relief.
