Mid Century 2 story, 4 bedrooms and 2 full baths
This classic mid century 2 story is located one and a half blocks from Tilles Park in Brentwood MO. It is also conveniently located in the inner-ring central corridor of the St Louis Metropolitan area within 5 minutes drive time to Highway 40/64.
One of the advantages of this home is that it is very amenable to multi-generational living. There is only 1 step to get inside the home. The first floor has a bedroom and a full bathroom. The current owners are using the first floor bedroom as a den with a sleeper sofa. They have set up their office in the large closet in the room. Check it out when you view the property – it’s organized living at its finest.
The upstairs has a full bath and 3 nice sized bedrooms. There are 2 possibilities for a master bedroom. The current owners have the master set up in the second bedroom. Both the first and second bedroom are large enough to accommodate more than one child. The 2nd floor bathroom has been completely updated. There are before and after photos in the slide show.
Both floors of this mid century 2 story have gleaming hardwood floors. The first floor has spacious rooms with a wood burning fireplace in the living room. The dining room faces south and has a lot of light streaming through the bay window. The kitchen has been updated. It has a 5 burner range and all of the appliances are stainless. The counter tops are Silestone quartz. There is a pantry.
The lower level is definitely fun and inviting for going down to boogie. The open floor concept makes it a great place for having a dance party or watching the big screen with a large or small group. It is easy to have a board game going on and yet not be separated from the rest of the family. OR how about setting it up for the kids who are still riding big wheels and needing space for their play kitchens and the like. The lower level could also qualify as a fifth bedroom. The current owners installed an egress window. It adds a lot of light and another element to the lower level finish and qualifies the lower level as a fifth bedroom.
The outdoor space is very inviting. The backyard has southern exposure which makes it a lot more comfortable and inviting for enjoying evening meals on the recently installed brick patio. The yard is fenced and if you have little tykes, there is a window over the kitchen sink for keeping an eye on them.
In addition to the “pretty stuff” let’s talk about 2 of the nitty gritty amenities. The HVAC was updated in December of 2009. It is high energy efficient resulting in the affordable utility costs. In addition to a high energy furnace and air conditioner, the update included a state of the art humidifier and programmable thermostat:

Here are some quips from the current owners expressing their love of the quality of life that Brentwood has give them over the past few years. They mostly loved that their children were able to walk to the schools. They also enjoyed “walking to Tilles Park.. cross walk and gate into park at the lake at the intersection of Sonora and McKnight Rd; Whole Foods, Panera Bread and shops at Brendwood Square; dry cleaners; public library; Walgreens, Post Office; Mid Count YMCA.” They also enjoyed the convenience of the centrally located Brentwood to Highway 40/64 and I 170 for driving anywhere in the Metropolitan area. They liked the neighborhood for its “wonderful mix of friendly neighbors – empty nesters, young families, little kids, big kids and babies(some dogs too)

The area that is Brentwood got its beginnings in the early 1800’s. It was on the Manchester Trail which was a route that was frequented by mail coaches and prairie schooners going west. In the 1870’s a businessman named Thomas Madden constructed a tavern, a barbershop, a grocery store and a blacksmith shop. Madden was owner operator of a rock quarry (which is still on the south western edge of Brentwood). At that time the area became known as Maddenville. It became a prosperous community and was connected to St Louis by a streetcar line.
In 1919 rather than be annexed to the neighboring Maplewood, the residents incorporated and became the village of Brentwood.
