9101 Goodale Avenue
Offered at $120000, 3+ bedrooms, 1.5 baths, 2 car garage
This mid century ranch was built in 1957. The current owner has enjoyed this home for the last 10 years but her favorite features are the radiant heat and the fact that it is a slab. There is a storage shed in the back yard and plenty of storage for Christmas decorations and “stuff” in the oversized 2 car garage.
The kitchen has the original pink tile back splash and metal cabinets. The metal cabinets will probably need a new paint job on the outside. There is plenty of storage space. It has a ceramic tile floor. An opening to the living room dining room has room for at least two bar stools on either side, ideal for morning coffee and breakfast.
There is a lot of light in the home. The spacious living room/dining room has a large fifties type “picture” window. By the way, the home has newer thermal windows throughout. In keeping with the mid century design of the home, the woodwork is blond. The doors are solid-core-no-panel and some are louvered. The flooring is frieze carpet.
Two of the bedrooms are carpeted and one has parquet flooring. The seller will consider an allowance for carpeting. The full bath is all out fifties with the pink and grey tile and the round glass block window. There is also a half bath.
The home has a wood burning fireplace in the large family room. The current owner added a sliding patio door for easy access to the fenced back yard, very convenient for letting pets in and out. Off the back of the family room is another family room/den which the current owner used as an office. Really though, this room was used for some very competitive games like pinocle (the favorite) but sequence was not far behind.
Other amenities include a main floor laundry room, an oversized two car garage.
Location
The location of this home is another aspect that thrilled the owner. It is located in a little known subdivision of brick ranch homes with no basement at the southeast corner of Overland. See below for the demographics of the neighborhood.
The location is within five minutes of the entrance to 170 for easy access to Clayton, the downtown business district and the airport. It is walkable. The current owner has walked for groceries many times, Overland Plaza is at the corner of Page and Woodson with retail, restaurants and grocery store I disagree with the 61 score given by walkscore.com.
The bus lines are the 66 Clayton-Airport (.1 miles) and the 94 Page (.3 miles).
