7461 Cornell Avenue, St Louis, MO
Offered for sale at $300000, 2 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, 1 car garage
7461 Cornell Avenue is a legitimately awesome location. It is 2 blocks south of Delmar just east of Hanley and dead ends into Mooney Park. It is a three minute car commute to the Clayton Business District, nine minutes by bus, five minutes by bicycle and 18 minutes on foot.
7461 Cornell was built in 1948. It is a large 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath home. The square footage from the county records does not include the sunroom which adds another 100+ square feet of living space (total 1464 s.f.).
The home features some natural woodwork and gleaming hardwood floors. It has newer thermal windows and a new steel front door. The living room has a gas fireplace. The size of the living room is 19×12 and open to a 13×11 dining room. The interior doors are original and have never been painted. The front of the room has a large window which is south facing. The stairway features the original wrought iron bannister. There is a sweet original half bath on the main level.
The dining room is open to the living room creating a spacious public space for entertaining. The light comes in from the north and creates the best soft light (ideal for artists). The floor plan of this home is flexible if you would like to make it somewhat unique. The sunroom off the kitchen has its own heat and air conditioning and is flanked with light from three sides. I personally think it could be an absolutely enchanting dining room with a trestle table and some good food.
The sunroom is immediately off the kitchen. The kitchen is compact (10X11) but a portable center island could add some counter space and efficiency. The seller will install a dishwasher if the buyer wants it. The out door space for this home is pleasant. It is north facing so never glaring light. The yard is flat and has plenty of space for more plantings along the fences. There is a nice concrete patio off the sunroom and there is plenty of space for a fire pit at the rear of the yard.
The bedrooms are upstairs and very spacious. Both have light from 2 sides. They also have hardwood floors. The seller recently had the plumbing updated. The full bath has been updated with a new vanity. The first floor bath is sweet with the original blue tile walls and floor. It has a newer toilet and sink. The round window adds a taste of the early fifties.
Most of the windows have been replaced with thermal tilt-in windows. The front door is newer steel. The interior of the home has been recently painted. Seller is offering a one year home warranty.
