On the last day of school when my son was attending Flynn Park Elementary, we would meet at our friend’s home in this neighborhood and would all walk to The Delmar Loop to celebrate the last day of school. By the kiddos choice, we would end up at Blueberry Hill where the youngsters could feel somewhat naughty while reading the grafiti in the bathrooms. I have very pleasant memories of this neighborhood.
Even though it’s not the official name, it is often referred to as The Flynn Park Neighborhood. It’s a little section of University City that is bounded by Delmar on the north, Big Bend on the east, Forest Park Parkway on the South and Flynn Park on the west (2 blocks by 4 blocks). It has long been a popular and neighbor friendly area for families. It is in the Flynn Park Elementary School and it is also in Lourdes Parish which is a popular Catholic elementary school (not walkable but close).

This neighborhood of University City is surrounded by universities: Washington University and Fontbonne College are walkable. St Louis University is within 15 minutes by car to the east and the University of Missouri-St Louis is also 15 minutes by car.
Flynn Park Elementary School is part of the University City School District. Homes in this neighborhood are sought after by people want to be in Our Lady of Lourdes Parish and Our Lady of Lourdes School. There are a host of other private schools in the University City area.
