6817 Crest Avenue St Louis MO 63130
6817 Crest is ready, willing and able to greet its new owners. It is “new” again yet has the charm of yesteryear. The current owners bought it to give it a new life.
A new high energy furnace (all new duct work) and air conditioner has been installed. It also has a new hot water heater. The windows are thermal and tilt-in. There is a whole house attic fan. The finished room in the lower level is great as a man-cave or a kid’s playroom. It is a walkout.
The first floor has turned “current” without compromising the charm. The owner put an opening from the kitchen to the living room to improve the flow. 6817 Crest Avenue is also now an “open floor plan” with the widening of the opening from the kitchen to the dining room.
The renovated kitchen has new white cabinets and granite counters. It is being sold fully equipped with a new gas range, a microwave, dishwasher, and refrigerator. All of the appliances are stainless. It is eat-in with a nice spot for a corner table or a baker’s rack.
And guess what the owner found under the layers of old flooring in the kitchen – pine floors. The kitchen floor and the hardwood floors throughout the home are newly refinished in a dark stain.
The first floor has a kitchen, living room, dining room, half bath and 3 season porch off the kitchen. The porch leads to a the two car detached garage. The second floor has 3 bedrooms and a full bath. There is a family room in the partially finished basement.
The second floor has three cape cod style bedrooms. There is an attic fan. All of the bedrooms have refinished hardwood floors and overhead lighting. The bathroom has been completely redone.
6817 Crest Avenue is located in the Roth Grove Subdivision in University City Mo. This subdivision has a communal ambiance. Many of the people who move in stay for quite a while.
Joan and her husband Tom raised their 4 boys in the Roth Grove neighborhood. Joan’s parents bought the house she and her husband now live in when she was 2 years old. Except for 1 year when her husband was in the service it is where she hung her hat and still does. Up until a few years ago, you would see this red head riding her bike through the streets, chatting with the neighbors and picking up any litter that she might find. One of the boys, Bob, bought a house in the neighborhood. He still lives less than a block from where he grew up.
Also, this neighborhood was the long time home of Richard Dockett, a nationally known civil rights activist who was also a community activist (he recently passed). The Roth Grove neighborhood has celebrated it’s diversity for years and have had many block parties in the common ground in the circle. It exemplifies an inclusionary neighborhood.
